Lackford Estate Solar Farm
The award-winning Lackford Estate Solar Farm was constructed on 96 acres of well-screened grade 4 agricultural land, over a period of just twelve weeks. It was connected to the grid at the end of March 2014. It produces 20.9 megawatts of clean energy, powering more than 6500 homes, and saving more than 9300 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The Lackford Estate Solar Farm was entered in to the Solar Power Portal Awards in October 2014. The ceremony was held at the Hilton NEC in Birmingham, and hosted by the television presenter Kate Humble. Beating off some stiff competition, Lackford Estate won the Best Utility-Scale Solar Farm title. You can see a video of the award-entry below.
